Cortisol is a valuable hormone, but not at the point where your levels remain elevated. You should not feel that you are always in fight or flight mode. We mostly need a break from that, to know what it's like to feel calm and at peace.
Part of the cortisol reset occurs when we achieve restful sleep. This is something that some of us have to work on consciously until we become good at it.
One idea: fall asleep to a repeat listen of a favorite, comforting audio book.
Mainly what I want to address here is our inability to deal with emotional stress.
This is where you believe something that is not true...
And/or...
Other people have a power over you where they can trigger you with negative actions or words.
Start to notice when these things happen...
Toss them out of your mind and into the rubbish heap to which they belong.
