Right when you're about to turn the ant farm upsidedown, catastrophe strikes.
That's how the thing works. Or, doesn't work. It isn't even meant to work.
The system is to remain broken.
Otherwise, our greatest minds would have solved it by now.
Here we are approaching the AI singularity, and we can't even solve something as simple as cancer.
Why?
Because there's too much money in treatment (in extending the patient's life).
It's a sad state of affairs, but true. They're just chasing the dollars.
Why?
Because there's no money to be made from a cure.

For instance, I have the cure for type-2 diabetes.
And I'm not the smartest person in the world - but, see, I had a vested interest: I was suffering from it. I was 280 pounds. Below my calves, I had obvious edema. My feet had turned black.
And I completely reversed that with diet alone.
But no one seems interested in a cure.
Why?
Because sugar has not been added to the list of controlled substances.
Yet, it certainly fits the definition of a Schedule 1 narcotic:
"Schedule 1 drugs have a high potential for abuse and serve no legitimate medical purpose."
